I was born in 1979 and was educated within the national-religious school system – first at a yeshiva that combined religious studies with matriculation, and later at the “Ma'ale Gilboa” yeshiva, which integrates classical yeshiva studies with a modern perspective.
In the army, I served for three years in the counter-terrorism special unit “Sayeret Golani,” where I also held the position of commander. After five years of studying psychology (a completed bachelor's degree and an unfinished master's degree), I moved into the field of recruitment and personnel selection, and later managed a public opinion research institute.
In 2017, I came for a visit to Erlangen, Bavaria, where the local Jewish community recognized my religious background. After several visits, the community offered me the position of cantor. Since there was no rabbi at the time, I assumed full responsibility for the religious leadership of the community. The years there were wonderful, especially because of the close-knit and intimate atmosphere of a small congregation. During that time, I also completed a cantorial training program at the ITJL.
Since 2022, I have been serving as cantor in the IKG Nürnberg. In addition, I teach Jewish religion (with an official teaching license from the Bavarian Ministry of Education) and prepare boys for their Bar Mitzvah. I have also received vocal training and occasionally perform in concerts.
Out of my deep love for the Tanach (Hebrew Bible), I joined the German team of the EJKA Chidon Tanach (Bible Quiz), for which I prepare study materials and write questions for both the German and European competitions.
My prayer style is Ashkenazi, but due to my background I also have command of the Yemenite tradition and a basic familiarity with the Sephardic tradition (especially in Torah reading and Piyut).
As a cantor, I believe in a broad sense of responsibility, continuous study and training, personal connection, and long-term engagement with the community.
