Cantor Amnon Seelig

Jüdische Gemeinde Mannheim

Amnon Seelig is cantor of the Jewish Community of Mannheim. He studied singing and music theory at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (both with a B.M.) and at the Karlsruhe University of Music (M.M.). He also studied Jewish Studies at the University of Potsdam and wrote his master's thesis in 2015 on Cantor Hirsch Goldberg and synagogue music in Braunschweig in the 19th century. In the same year, he completed the cantor seminar at the Abraham Geiger College.


Amnon Seelig was cantor at the Jewish Community of Berlin and the Jewish Community of Düsseldorf before becoming cantor of the Jewish Community of Mannheim in 2017. He has performed as a guest cantor and soloist in numerous synagogues in Germany and Israel. He is a member of several vocal ensembles and, between 2013 and 2021, was a founding member and baritone of the vocal trio "Die Drei Kantoren," which performs in Jewish communities throughout Germany. He is a bass and founding member of the ensemble Q5: The Mannheim Vocal Quintet. Since 2022, he has been the first chairman of the Association of Jewish Cantors in Germany.


Cantor Seelig has taught at the Abraham Geiger College and is a lecturer at the Louis Lewandowski Seminar for Cantorial Training.
