Cantor Placement
– Call a Cantor
Our Call a Cantor program connects Jewish communities throughout Germany with qualified cantors for all types of services – including the High Holidays – at fair and transparent rates.
With our diverse roster of Orthodox and Liberal cantors, we can help you find the right professional for your community’s needs.

Become a Member
Are you working as a chazan in Germany? Are you studying Chazanut? Join the Association and become part of our growing professional community!
You can find our membership application form [here].
For any further questions, please contact us. We offer four types of membership:
Full Member
Open to those who have graduated from a cantor-training institution recognized by the Association, or have at least five years of experience serving as a cantor in a Jewish community in Germany (recognized by the Central Council of Jews in Germany or by the Union of Progressive Jews), or have passed the Association’s entrance examination.
Full members must be currently employed as cantors in a Jewish community or working independently as cantors in Germany.
They have full voting rights in the Association’s general meetings.
Student Member
Open to those enrolled in a cantor-training institution recognized by the Association. Student members have voting rights at general meetings. Upon ordination or investiture, student membership may – at the member’s request – seamlessly transition into full membership.
Honorary Member
Honorary membership may be granted to individuals whose contributions to the field of Chazanut in Germany deserve special recognition. Honorary members may attend meetings but do not have voting rights.
Supporting Member
Anyone who wishes to promote the goals of the Association may join as a supporting member.
Supporting members may participate in discussions but do not have voting rights.
