ALEX JACOBOWITZ was born in 1960 in New York. While studying at the Ithaca School of Music (New York), he fell in love with the special sound of the xylophone. He asked his professor what it took to become a world-class xylophone solist. But he just laughed and said, "There is no such thing!" That's exactly where Alex decided to become something like that! After a year with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, he left his life as an orchestral musician behind and has been working as a soloist all over the world ever since. Countless newspaper reports, radio portraits and appearances on European television mark his tireless commitment to this personal form of musical international understanding. In 2012, the film “Married to the Marimba” by British filmmaker Alan Rosenthal and the TV portrait “Hero of the Street” by SWR were released. Music is a language that brings him closer to the creator, according to Jacobowitz. Therefore, his aspiration is not only the love of music, but also the constant search for closeness to its creator - to unite the service of the hands with the dedefence of the heart.
